I'm contributing to the flood of Valentine's Day I hope it's somewhat unique, though, because I want to depict an awkward otaku-fujoshi couple. Sasahara dan Oguie is such an awkward couple, so here they are.
I call this piece "What have you done, Sasahara-san?" I'm sure that's what I'd scream if I ever see them and see a teary-eyed Ogiue (obviously I'm a fanboi)
I'm going to submit this for my sketch group's doujin artbook. (This piece is a WIP I'm kind of forcing for Valentines Day; I'll work on it further for the book.) Please look forward to it this June
Happy Valentine's Day!
Genshiken and its characters belong to Kio Shimoku.
Ah, they did? I drew this around a year before the Genshiken "bonus" chapter was released (after which Genshiken II started). As far as I know, there is no explicit indication how far they went in the manga
True, no explicit content is shown, but it is definitely implied. Sasahara did say he was gonna show Ogiue "just how aggressive he can be" after Ogiue herself showed him her the "yaoi fantasies" in her sketchbook.
Yes, volume 8 (which contains the chapters you mentioned) is intense. The manga did help me to accept that I am a casual otaku (somewhat like Sasahara), something that I was (and perhaps still am) a little embarrassed about.
I used to be like that. Not as much now, though and it's a little sad, actually. School took too much time. I still read manga, though but I'm much more picky.^^ And I do attend anime-cons with my friend, so I guess I'm kinda still an otaku... even though Norway only has like three cons a year, and one being a Shonen Ai con. xD
Thanks I happened to re-read my Genshiken manga on the weekend. Ogiue is quite a (difficult) personality. I wonder how Sasahara copes after the manga ends
I just re-read mine, as well! She seems to be getting a bit better, at least, after the two of them get together... Sasahara is a trooper, I'm sure he manages somehow, haha.

"The great cartoon-makers make cartoons not specifically for kids, or for grown-ups, but for the kids within their grown-up selves."
...ahhhemmm...
...you know, "did it?"

Thanks again.
